This article introduces a new type of genetic test called ACTN3 which can predict a child's natural athletic strengths. As it only costs 149 dollars and it can find out a kid's sports talent when he was very young, the inventor assumed that this test will be popluar.
I'm really worry about the sequences this test will bring to our life. How can we make sure we really have talent in a specific sport? We need to take time to prove the test result is right. What if one day we find out that we spend many years pushing our children tp practice the sports they assumed to be good at and the test result is totally wrong? Children have already losen their golden childhood which will never never come back. Even if the test result is exactly right, our children may have no interest in what they are good at. What they should do? Obey to their parents' choice? Spend their whole life in doing the sports they don't love at all while still winning dozens of prizes?
We do need a sense of success! We do believe this genetic test will be extremely accurate one day! We do believe that scientific techonolgy can help us and make us closer to what we are dreaming of! However, this test is just for young children. They are too young to make their own choice. And their parents could help them not instead of them to make the choice. We need our children to enjoy their life not just being successful!

  1. I feel that this test would end up being a waste of money...I mean if your results are that your kid has NO atheltic ability, then what? I don't think it really matters either way. We've been living this long and people have to just wait it out...but its not like you can just get rid of your kid if they dont have the abilities that you want them to have. You STILL have the obligation to care for them, so it just seems pointless :/ lol
